You can use the following keyboard shortcuts for performing actions from the Camera menu:

About Your Photo Gallery

You can save up to 36 photos on your device (called your "Gallery"). You can view your Gallery in the following ways:

By default, your Gallery opens in Thumbnail view. To switch among views, press D then select the view you want.

Thumbnail Gallery View

Use the wheel or D-pad to scroll through your Gallery. To zoom in or out, open the menu then select View > Zoom In [ K] or Zoom Out [ L].

The number of photos remaining (the number you can still store in your Gallery) is shown in the screen in the upper-right corner. The number of photos you have selected (checked) is shown in the upper-left corner of the screen.

List Gallery View

To view your photos with their information (name, date, size), select the List view by opening the menu and selecting View > List.

As with the Thumbnail view, use the wheel or D-pad to scroll through your Gallery. To zoom in or out, press Menu then select View > Zoom In [ K] or Zoom Out [ L]. To edit a photo's name, highlight the photo, then press and hold the wheel to bring up the context menu; select Edit Photo Info [ E] and make your changes in the dialog box that appears.

Full Screen Gallery View

To get a larger look at any of your photos, highlight a picture in the Thumbnail or List view, then from the menu select View Full Screen [ ]. The highlighted image appears on the screen.

To scroll through your photos in full screen view, use the wheel or D-pad. The approximate position of the photo in the display is shown to the right. In the upper-right corner, the number of photos selected (checked) is shown. In the lower-right corner, the number of remaining photos you can take is shown.

If you want to view your photo in actual size, press Menu then select View > Actual Size. To move around in the photo, use the D-pad or wheel, or press Menu and use the Pan commands. To return to the Full Screen view, press Done .

Rotate Photos

  1. From any of the Gallery views, scroll to highlight the photo you want to rotate.

  2. Press Menu then select Rotate Photo [ R].

  3. A dialog box opens. Scroll up with the wheel to rotate the photo counter-clockwise; scroll down to rotate the photo clockwise.

  4. Press Done to save your change or press Cancel to leave the photo unrotated and return to the Gallery view.

Select Photos

In order to perform an action on one or more photos, you must first select the photos. Note: You can select photos in any of the views.

  1. From the Gallery screen, highlight the photo you wish to select.

  2. Press the wheel or the Return key to cause a check mark to appear in the lower-left corner of the image. In Thumbnail view the edges of the selected image will be outlined as well. If you are in Full Screen view, the corner will be checked, plus the photo name will be outlined.

  3. Continue to scroll through your Gallery, highlighting an image, then pressing the wheel to select it, until you've selected all the images you wish.

  4. To select a series of contiguous photos, rotate the wheel to highlight the first photo in the series, then press and hold the Shift key down while continuing to scroll through the Gallery. After the last image you want in the series is highlighted, press the wheel and release the Shift key. To deselect the photos, repeat.

  5. To select all the photos in your Gallery, press Menu + A. To de-select all photos, press Menu + U.

  6. The top-left corner of the screen will display how many photos are selected.

Change the Name of a Photo

You can always re-name photos you've stored in your Gallery from any of the views. Note: A photo name can be no longer than 32 characters.

  1. Scroll to highlight the photo you want to rename.

  2. Press Menu then select Edit Photo Info [ E]. The Edit Photo Info dialog box opens:

  3. The current photo name is highlighted. Start typing to rename the photo.

  4. Select Done to save the change and dismiss the dialog box.

Discard Photos

You can always discard photos you've stored in your Gallery, from any of the views except Actual Size.

  1. Scroll to highlight the image you want to discard, then press the wheel to select it. If you want to discard more than one photo, use the multiple selection methods described in Select Photos.

  2. Press Menu then select Discard [ ]. A confirmation dialog box appears.

  3. Select Discard to delete the image(s) from your Gallery. If you decide to keep the photo(s) after all, then select Back .

Sort Photos

You can sort the order in which your photos appear in your Gallery by doing the following while in the Camera application. By default, your photos are sorted by date & time, with the newest photos at the beginning of the Gallery. To change the default sort order, do the following:

  1. From either the Thumbnail or Full Screen Gallery view, press Menu then select Sort to open the submenu. You can choose from:

  2. Scroll to highlight your sort choice, then press the wheel to select it and dismiss the menu.

Create a Slideshow

You can create a slideshow using your photos (or a subset of them) by using the Slideshow feature of the Camera:

  1. Decide if you want to include all your photos in the slideshow or just a subset. If you want to use a subset, from the Gallery view, select all the photos that you want to include.

  2. Press Menu then select Create Slideshow.

  3. The Slideshow dialog box appears, giving you all your slideshow options.

Send Photos from Your Gallery

You can send any or all 36 of the photos you've stored in your Gallery through the Email or MMS application.

Note: You can also send a photo immediately after capturing it, by following the instructions in Take a Photo, step 8.

  1. From the Gallery screen, scroll through your photos. When you find a photo you want to email, highlight the photo then press the wheel to select it. (You can also press the Return key to select a highlighted photo.) Continue to select photos until you've selected all the images you want to send. Tip: To select all the photos in your Gallery, press Menu + A. To de-select all photos, press + U.

  2. The top-left corner of the screen will display how many photos are selected.

  3. Press Menu then select Send Checked > via Email Message [ M] or via MMS Message. A new email or MMS compose screen will appear with your photos shown as attachments.

  4. Complete the email or MMS message, then select Send [ M].

When Your Gallery Is Full

If your Gallery becomes full (36 pictures stored), the title bar will read "0 remaining" and you will receive a notice if you try to take another photo.

If you want to take new photos, first discard some existing photos, as described in Discard Photos.

Capture Screen

About Capture Modes

There are two "modes" you can be in when taking a picture:

Take a Photo

To capture a photo, you must be viewing the Capture screen:

  1. From either the Capture or Gallery screen, press Menu then select Capture New, or press the right shoulder button .

  2. The Capture screen appears with the image currently in focus in the "viewfinder".

  3. Select a photo size by pressing Menu and selecting from:

  4. Open the flash setting menu by selecting the button just below the shutter release button.

    The button will display the icon of the currently-selected option:

    Normal - No flash
    Flash - Flash
    Night - Wide aperture with no flash
    Lowlight Flash - Wide aperture with flash

  5. Position the camera so the image you want to capture displays in the "viewfinder" on the Capture screen.

  6. When you're ready to capture the image, press the right shoulder button or select the shutter release button .

    Note: If you want to take a picture of yourself, center your image in the small mirror on the back of the device and press the right shoulder button to capture. Remember the "right shoulder button" will be on your left as you're looking at the back of the device.

  7. The screen lens "closes" first, then opens, displaying your captured photo.
