Note: This application is not available in all product configurations. Product configurations vary by wireless operator.
The Browse Messages screen is your main view into the Multimedia Messaging application. The Browse Messages screen lists all your multimedia messages, grouped into folders, ordered by date by default. (Read more about ordering your lists in Sort Multimedia Messages.)
Title Bar - The title bar of the Multimedia Messaging screen shows you how full your Multimedia Messaging mailbox is and the total capacity.
Folders - You'll see the "system" folders--Inbox, Sent, and Trash.
To the right of the folder name, if you have enabled Show Message Count/Size, the number of unread versus total number of messages is shown in parentheses.

Individual messages are grouped in collapsible folder lists. To open (expand) a folder's list of messages, use the wheel to highlight the folder name, then press. To collapse the list, press again. Press again to expand, etc.
Message Sender - If the sender of the multimedia message is in your Address Book, then the phone number will resolve to a contact name, which displays in the left column. If the sender is not in your Address Book, then the sender's phone number will display.
Message Lead-In - The first few words of the multimedia message will display to the left of the sender's name/phone number.
Message Size - If you have enabled Show Message Count/Size, you will see the message size to the right of the message lead-in.
Open a Message - To open an individual message, highlight the message and press the wheel. To learn more about reading your message, read Read a Multimedia Message.
Message Type and Status Indicators - To the left of each item in the Browse Messages screen are icons that indicate the message type and the status of the folder or message. To interpret these icons, read Icon Legend.
Icons shown the to left of each folder name or multimedia message tell you the message content type or status. Plus, all unread messages are shown in bold. Here's what the icons mean:
While in the Multimedia Messaging application, you can use keyboard shortcuts to select options from the menus.

By default, the messages listed in the Browse Messages screen are organized with the newer messages at the top (ascending order). To change the order in which your messages are displayed in the Browse Messages screen, do the following:
and select Sort to open the Sort submenu.
To keep your Multimedia Messaging mailbox within its limit, be sure to discard old messages periodically, and then Empty the Trash. To discard a message:
then select Cancel
.
As long as a message is in the Trash, you can retrieve it to another folder:
then select Retrieve Message. The message now is restored to the folder from which you discarded it.
To discard all messages in the Trash folder permanently:
then select Empty Trash.
To open an individual multimedia message for reading, do the following:
D] to start the slide show. If you have set your messages to play automatically (as described in Set Slide Show Behavior), then the slide show will play automatically once you open the message to read. To read about other play options, read Multimedia Messaging Settings.

You can save any of the sounds included in your message as ringtones. To do this, follow these instructions:
If you receive a message from an individual you would like to include as a contact in your Address Book, do the following:
then select Add to Address Book [

To use the Phone application to call the sender of a multimedia message, do the following:
then select Call Back [

Each multimedia message you compose can contain up to three multimedia slides, each containing a text, sound (voice note or song), and picture attachment. Each message is limited in size, determined by your wireless operator. Note that as you compose a new message, the size of the message will be updated dynamically in the title bar and at the bottom of the Compose screen.

Each slide can contain text, a voice note

Add a sound to your slide by selecting the "Add Sound" icon:
. The ringtone selector opens. You can either add a ringtone (a subset of ringtone categories will be available for attaching) or record a voice note.

Add a voice note by selecting the "Add Voice Note" icon:
. On the dialog box that opens, select Start Recording [
]. Speak into the microphone (located by the wheel) to record the voice note, then select Stop Recording [
] when you are finished. At this point you can either Re-Record the voice note [
], Preview it, or save it by selecting Done
. Once you save it, it's added to the multimedia message after a short processing time.
. Your Photo Gallery opens, where you can select one photo. After selecting the photo in the Photo Gallery, press Menu
then select Attach Checked [
M] to attach it to the slide.
. You can add up to a total of three slides by repeating Step 2.

D]. You can make changes to any of the message attachments (text, sound, picture):

To send a voice note that you record, do the following:
then select Record Voice Note [
]. The Stand By dialog box appears.
]. Record your message by speaking into the microphone (located by the wheel).
when you are finished to save it directly to a new multimedia message. Press Stop Recording [
] to bring up the Recorded dialog box. From the Recorded dialog box you can Re-Record [
], Preview, or attach the voice note to a new multimedia message by selecting Done
.
If you are composing a multimedia message and want to save it so you can resume composing or sending at a later time, save your message in the Drafts folder:
. (You can also press Menu
and select Safe as Draft.)
Note: Be sure to Save as Draft after each edit, or you'll lose your edits.
To reply to a multimedia message, do the following:
then select Reply > via Multimedia [
R] or via Text.
To forward a multimedia message to another individual, do the following:
then select Forward [

You can only resend messages that are in the Sent folder. You can resend any of the messages in the Sent folder, whether or not they were successfully sent:
then select Resend. Your message opens in a Compose screen, which means you can edit any of the fields, if you wish.

You can set the following preferences for messages that you receive.
To set these preferences, do the following:
then select Settings. The Settings screen appears.
to save your setting and return to the Browse Messages screen.
You may have the option to set a preference to download new messages automatically. The presence of this setting is determined by your wireless operator. If you do see this option on your settings screen, it will appear in its own group box.
Select the check box if you want messages automatically downloaded to your device. Note that if you are roaming, messages will not be downloaded automatically to your device unless you also select the Auto-download even while roaming check box.
Note: If this option exists on your Multimedia Messaging Settings screen, and you do not select it, then, when a new message arrives, you will receive a dialog box asking if you want to download the message. The dialog box will include the message size, so if you are monitoring your mail box limit (2 MB), you can make an informed decision.
If you want a copy of each multimedia message you send to be saved to your Sent folder, follow these instructions:
then select Settings. The Settings screen appears.
to save your setting and return to the Browse Messages screen.
By default, for each message, the Browse Messages screen displays the sender's phone number, first few words of the message subject line, and the date sent. If you also want to see how many unread/total messages you have, and how much space each message takes up, then do the following while in the Multimedia Messaging application:
then select Settings > General. The Settings screen appears.
to save your setting and return to the Browse Messages screen.
You can select the way your device lets you know (or "notifies" you) when a new multimedia message has arrived. If you have a ringtone selected, you will also receive a balloon notification in the title bar when a new message arrives. To select a notification method, do the following:
then select Settings > General. The General Settings screen appears.
. To preview a song, keep the song highlighted for a few moments (make sure you haven't silenced your device).
Note that the category and song currently in effect are highlighted.
to save your settings.
You can set how many days your outgoing messages will attempt to be delivered, assuming an initial delivery problem occurs. Leaving the setting at the default number of days should be fine, but if you wish to change the number, do the following:
then select Settings > General. The Settings screen appears.
to save your setting and return to the Browse Messages screen.
You may be advised by your wireless operator to change your MMS Account (this may happen, for example, if you are traveling to another country). You manage your MMS accounts on the Accounts Settings screen.
Change Your Active MMS Account
then select Settings > Accounts. The Accounts Settings screen appears. All accounts are listed in the Accounts group box. Notice that some accounts cannot be discarded or modified. They are notated with a padlock icon (
).
to save the change.
View/Edit Account Details
then select Settings > Accounts. The Accounts Settings screen appears.
Add an MMS Account
then select Settings > Accounts. The Accounts Settings screen appears.
then select New Account [
N]. the New MMS Account screen appears.
. Your new account is saved.
